Your child will have access to their username and password for Purple Mash. Teachers can set ‘2Do’ tasks for them to complete, and children can access a huge range of games and activities to support their learning in every topic!
The purpose of Home Learning is to give children the choice to choose from a range of varied and appropriate activities set via Purple Mash, our online learning platform. These activities are from different areas of the curriculum and allow the children to follow their own interests and build upon new concepts. The children are given a choice from a range of activities per half term. The activities that the children can choose from are based around the class topic or a quality text. This enables parents to be informed of the learning that is currently happening within their child’s class. The amount of optional activities that the children can complete per half-term is dependent on age expectations.
Children will also be expected to read their reading books and to learn their spellings and tables weekly.
This usually takes the form of reading, spelling, phonics and times tables. Sometimes there will be other activities which the children are asked to complete. If your child is looking for something to do they can access Purple Mash and enjoy any of the activities on there.
Some of the Home Learning activities can be completed independently and some require some support from parents or an older person. All activities are open-ended and can be extended. There is a balance of independent activities and those requiring support.
